WHAT IS TAE KWON DO?
Tae Kwon Do is the martial art of empty-handed self-defense that developed in Korea over the last 2,000 years and is now taught in more than 125 nations worldwide.
Tae Kwon Do developed not only as an effective fighting structure, but also as a moral, spiritual and upright way of life. "Tae" means foot technique; "Kwon" means hand techniques, and "Do" means structure or way. From the time of Tan-Gun, the founding father of the Korean nation (2,333 B.C.), Korean people have been guided by the principle of "Benefits to all Mankind." This cultural paradigm is inextricably linked to the art of Tae Kwon Do; just as the personality, character and expertise of a teacher informs his students, the character and culture of Korea are to be found in Tae Kwon Do.
In 540 A.D., Korean Hwarang "Flower of Youth" knights systematized "Taek Kyon," an early form of Tae Kwon Do, for their own physical and spiritual training. Textbooks on the principles, postures and techniques of this self defense and fighting structure were in print as early as 1790. The name "Tae Kwon Do" was officially adopted by Korean Masters in 1955.
This tradition of education, structure and physical training lives today in the instruction of Yun's Black Belt Academy. All students must adhere to the class etiquette and protocol, the Tenets of Tae Kwon Do, as well as the Student Oath. Children must adhere to the Children's Home Rules.

Emotional development– Building self-confidence, mental/physical control, courage and perseverance (what I believe to be one of the most important lessons we teach). Students are challenged to go above and beyond the expectations they have set for themselves, encouraged to never give up on their goals, never letting limitations or setbacks stop them from becoming successful. For children with ADD/ADHD, mental/physical control can be very difficult to manage. Martial arts engage ......read more
