Rank Promotion

Rank promotion occurs upon successful completion of a skills test given by a set of Master instructors within the school. Upon promotion, the student advances to the next belt rank.  The skills test varies, depending upon the rank of the student; however, the test generally consists of:

  • basic skill techniques
  • forms
  • kicking combinations
  • sparring (one step and free)
  • hold releases
  • board breaking
  • terminology

        

      

Belt Ranks

D A Yun's Academy of Tae Kwon Do has a total of 19 belt ranks and 24 forms. From white to 6th degree black, there are forms (patterns of movements) that represent each level. At 7th degree black belt, the student reaches the master level of training. Click on a specific belt for further definition.
